Troubleshooting

I cannot see a tracking kit listed in the drop-down menu in 'Configure AdVis'.

First make sure the tracking kit is plugged into the USB port. You should here a sound when Windows recognises it. If it's still not listed after clicking Refresh, try restarting your PC.

If it's still not listed, check that the device is listed in 'Device Manager'. You can view 'Device Manager' by Right-Clicking on My Computer, and choosing properties. For Windows 7 and Vista, click 'Device Manager'. In XP, you need to go to the hardware tab and then click 'Device Manager'. Check for any devices that stick out with yellow warning signs. If it's either 'Hi-Speed DVD Creator' or 'USB 2820 Device', make sure it is enabled. You can enable it by right-clicking on it and choosing 'Enable'. Double Click the device and choose 'Update Driver' to see if it can find the latest driver for the tracking kit. If you are still unsuccessful, you may need to reinstall AdVis.

The tracking kit should show up as either 'Hi-Speed USB DVD Creator' or 'USB 2820 Device' depending on which model you received. It will appear either under 'Imaging Devices' or 'Sound, Video and Game Controllers'.

If you cannot find 'Hi-Speed DVD Creator' or 'USB 2820 Device' in device manager, it could be an indication of a hardware failure either on your PC or on the USB capture card. Try to test on another machine to rule this out and contact us for further help.

The tracking kit is listed in 'Configure AdVis' but the camera feed just says 'Connecting' or is completely black.

Check the tracking kit is receiving power (the camera should be warm to the touch and the infrared should emit a slight red glow).
Check all the connections between the PC and tracking kit.
Check the 'Multiple Cameras' tab to make sure the tracking kit isn't selected for another projector.
Make sure there are no other applications installed and running that could be using the tracking camera i.e. Skype.
Restart the PC.
Contact us if you suspect a hardware or power failure.

I am able to interact with effects, however the effects sometimes interact on their own.
You need to adjust the sensitivity setting in 'Configure AdVis'. Increasing the sensitivity value will make the effects less sensitive.
If in a dark environment, make sure the infrared emitter is switched on (you should see a faint red glow) and positioned to cover the projection area evenly.

I am able to interact with effects, however the reaction time seems slow and needs lots of movement.
You need to adjust the sensitivity setting in 'Configure AdVis'. Decreasing the sensitivity value will make the effects more sensitive.
If in a dark environment, make sure the infrared emitter is switched on (you should see a faint red glow) and positioned to cover the projection area evenly.

The effects are reacting to movement, but they are reacting in a different position to where there is movement.
Check the Flip and Mirror settings are set correctly.
Check the Crop box matches the projection area.

I am using multiple projectors, the first display interacts correctly but the second display does not
Make sure all the tracking kits are receiving power and can be viewed in the 'Multiple Cameras' tab. Make sure the settings for each camera are set correctly.
You may need to enable 'Stretch Mode' depending on your graphics card driver.

I am having problems loading up a Video File
AdVis supports most video formats and comes preinstalled with a lot of video codecs. The video will not play if the codec your video requires is not installed.

Video seems to jump
Check the resolution and video format of the video. Some video formats require lots of processing power to decode each video frame. If the video has a high resolution, your PC may not be powerful enough to handle decoding the video and running AdVis. For best results, convert your video files to Uncompressed AVI.

Effects seem to be running slow.
Make sure nothing else is running on the PC including hidden background items. Programs such as AntiVirus can take up a lot of CPU power in the background.
Make sure your PC meets our recommended specifications.
